The Word is... Spectacle!
Spectacle is word that is thrown around a lot when describing the latest Hollywood blockbuster. More times that not however the blockbuster doesn't live up to the word. A Midsummer Night's Bollywood Dream most defiantly lives up to the word, Spectacle. This show is a spectacle of sights, sounds, and heart. A pure delight from start to finish. A beautiful blending of two cultures coming together to celebrate the most amazing of shared human experiences. Those universal human experiences are love, life, dancing, singing, and joy. This production takes the audience on a rollicking journey of love, life, dance, song, and joy.
Ok, enough with the flowery stuff. This show is fun. As an alumni of UHM's Department of Theatre and Dance, it's so nice to see the Eastern and Western aspects coming together to produce such a wonderful show.
Every aspect of this show is professional and heartfelt. You could feel the love and passion all the contributors felt for this production.
Sai Bhatawadekar and Paul Mitri do a fantastic job working together to create this fantastic world.
I could go on about specific aspects or standouts, but it all stands out.
The only thing i'd say is be prepared to live in this magical world for awhile. It's a Paul Mitri show, it's gonna last awhile.
The entire cast is wonderful. I do have to give shout outs to KoDee Martin and Jorin Young. Jorin Young is beyond a triple threat on stage. We knew she could sing and act from previous shows, but her dance skills are equally breathtaking. KoDee's timing and physical comedy bits are inspired.
I'll end with giving huge props to whoever's idea it was to split the Puck role. And those two guys are fantastic!!!!!
