About the show
One of the longest-running comedies in American theatre, Tony n' Tina's Wedding is credited as the originator of the "environmental theatre" movement. It stages a traditional Italian-American wedding and reception with its colorful stereotypes pushed to the limit. Audience members are treated as guests at the wedding by the interactive, improvisational comedy cast. Tony n' Tina's Wedding ran Off-Broadway continuously for over 25 years. It was previously produced by MVT in 1996 and 2011. The show is scripted and has a specific timeline of events, but improvised interaction between wedding party members and audience members is part of the uniqueness of the event. During the course of the reception, dinner is fed to all. The actors ability to remain in character, to improv well and to have a sense of humor is very important to the success of the show.
Auditions
The show is performed by a cast of twenty-two men and women who comprise the wedding party and wedding service personnel. This audition is for all remaining roles in the play.
