Guess Who Made the Cut!

Guess Who Made the Cut!

A whodunit that can’t answer the question is exactly what is being presented at Manoa Valley Theatre…SHEAR MADNESS!  This hilarious murder mystery will literally keep you guessing each and every show because the ending is decided with the help of the audience.  That’s right…the audience!

The hair salon, Shear Madness, is the scene of the crime in Waikiki on Ohua Street... or rather the exterior of the interior, as the crime takes place above the salon.  The suspects, Barbara DeMarco (Shannon Winpenny), Tony Whitcomb (Sean Koegel), Eddie Lawrence (Steve Wyman) and Mrs. Shubert (Fabienne Flandre Herold) are interrogated by Nick Rosetti (Alan Shepard) and his assistant, Mikey O’Brien (Dan Connell).  As the first Act winds down, Nick, crosses the fourth wall and seeks information and theories from the witnesses…the audience. Therefore each witness can reflect and elaborate their thoughts to end Act I and open Act II.

The action becomes hot and heavy in Act II as theories and recollections shape and reshape what was seen and heard.  Is what you saw and heard accurate? Have all the clues been presented? And based on that are we able to identify the killer?  And by we, I mean you, the audience. By vote a new killer will emerge each show creating an ending individual to each suspect, but while you are analyzing the clues you will find yourself laughing hysterically at the comedic genius of the cast.

Shear Madness is listed by Guinness as the longest running play in the history of the USA and is the only play ever to be inducted into the Comedy Hall of Fame.  So take the time to put on your sleuthing hat and gather at MVT for a wonderful adventure of murder, mystery and just plain old fun. Your hairdresser will approve.
