Don't Stand Still for This Show!
Time Stands Still, a masterful piece of theatre which delves into the psyche of war, death and suffering through the eyes of non-combatants, is currently playing at HPU’s Paul and Vi Loo Theatre. Four actors take you into the world of PTSD, anxiety and “normal” expectations and forces us to experience the “pain without the gain”.
Sarah Goodwin (Therese Olival) is a photo journalist, and her boyfriend/husband, James Dodd (Rob Duval) is a war journalist. They both experience trauma in different ways which defines them and sets their path for the future.
Richard Erlich (Eli Kent Mills Foster) is a friend and the photo editor at the magazine which Sarah and James receives their assignments. His girlfriend/wife, Mandy Bloom (Cierra Wall) is the voice of reason in the midst of chaos.
The play will make you laugh, cry, cringe and most of all, think…because what is being presented is not only about war, but about everyday life.
The actors are excellent and brought life to the stage especially Therese Olival who totally engulfed the role and took the audience on her roller coaster ride.
The play is directed by Alex Munro, with beautiful set design by DeAnne Kennedy, lighting by Janine Myers, costumes by Carlynn Wolfe, sound by Jason Taglianetti and props by Caitlin Tong.
Time Stands Still plays until November 25, 2018 at the Paul and Vi Loo Theatre at Hawai`i Pacific College (Windward campus). For tickets visit: hpu.edu/theatre. Don’t miss this stellar performance because unlike the title…time does not stand still!
