Stars will Shine in DHT Season Opener, RAGTIME!

Show opens September 22 and runs through October 15

Honolulu, HI (Thursday, September 13, 2017) DHT is excited to present two Actors Equity veterans as the leads for the season opener, “RAGTIME”.  Guest artist, Kent Overshown, whose recent credits include the Broadway first national tours of The Gershwins PORGY AND BESS and MEMPHIS, will play “Coalhouse Walker Jr.” and Lindsay Roberts (also a PORGY AND BESS and MEMPHIS tour veteran) will reprise the role of “Sarah” having just performed the role to rave reviews at the Ogunquit Playhouse in Maine.

Eli Foster plays “Tateh” the immigrant street artist; Lea Woods Almanza plays “Mother” and Garrett Hols plays “Father”, the well-to-do fireworks manufacturer.

Set in turn of the century New York, and based on the 1975 novel by E. L. Doctorow, “RAGTIME” intertwines three distinctive American tales: African Americans, represented by Coalhouse Walker Jr., a Harlem musician; upper-class suburbanites, represented by Mother, the matriarch of a white upper-class family in New Rochelle, New York; and Eastern European immigrants, represented by Tateh, a Jewish immigrant from Latvia. The lives of these three American families are entwined with historical figures such as Booker T. Washington, Harry Houdini, J.P. Morgan, Henry Ford, Evelyn Nesbit and Emma Goldman.

Directed by John Rampage, Co-Choreographed by John Rampage and Celia Chun, with Musical Direction by Phil Hidalgo.
