HTS Issue #227 — Shock and Ono
Welcome to HTS' 227th Issue!
As always, I encourage you all to submit reviews to Hitting the Stage at firstname.lastname@example.org-- we would love to hear from you. In fact, we would not be anything without our reviewers, from those in the community to our very own staff. Thank you for reacting to our local theatre scene and writing about it here.
Writing is a very personal thing. Sometimes, someone else's writing attacks who you are. We here welcome reviews and essays of all types (as long as they're written with aloha), for example this week I have to present to you "Disgraced by Disgraced" by Community Contributor Maseeh Ganjali. Here, his reaction letter does not speak directly to the production values of TAG's recent Hawai‘i-premiere show; rather, he offers a critique on the play from the demographic the play is talking about, one that is Muslim American.
Next we have HTS' Laura Clarke Greaver reviewing Kumu Kahua Theatre's Uncle's Regularly Scheduled Garage Party is CANCELLED Tonight! where she jumps into the food, the fun, and the ohana around something so simple as a party at Uncle's house. Catch her review here: "If Can, Can. If No Can, Bottles."
