HTY presents 2017 summer drama programs for kids and ‘tweens
HONOLULU (April 7, 2017)—Honolulu Theatre for Youth invites children to a “Summer Drama Adventure” and “The ‘Tween Scene.” HTY professional teaching artists will be joined by members of HTY’s acting company in leading this popular drama program. The younger set will embark on a royal quest, while the ‘tweens will set out on a journey of discovery. Also new this year: music! Classes fill up fast so reserve your spot today.

This year’s Summer Drama Adventure for children ages 7 – 9 is The Royal Pain
Come embark on an epic quest with HTY’s Summer Drama Adventure. This year features the story, The Royal Pain – The Royal Naughty Child refuses to go to bed! The Royal Parents decree, “If anyone can make this child finally get tucked in, they will be rewarded beyond measure.” Join the 2017 Summer Drama Adventure crew and help save the day by helping make the play. Will you use magic potions or will you dance till three? Will you juggle and jest to make this rambunctious youngster sleep? HTY Summer – Where the story and performance are created by YOU!
The ‘Tween Scene for children ages 10 – 13… is all about you! Discover the excitement and challenge of creating and performing a completely original play right out of your imagination. Discover characters, action and stories that capture your audience and express your remarkable creativity. Discover, marvelous friends, rousing theatre games, dramatic tales and the actor in you.
In both the Summer Drama Adventure and the 'Tween Scene, daily sessions are filled with dramatic adventure—movement, theatre games, music and creative exploration. Working with HTY professional artists and actors, students will develop their skills as performers and artists while strengthening team-building and creative problem solving and skills. Through these theatre programs, students will discover creative ways to perform original stories on the HTY Tenney Theatre stage.
