The classic "mixed up fairy tales" musical Into the Woods has opened at Mamiya Theatre.

The Chaminade University Performing Arts Department should be proud of the fact that the cast they assembled leaves a trail of bread crumbs straight to a toe tappin’ good time at the theater! This production has a cast that truly shines a light on the reasons why these characters are timeless classics. The voices involved are remarkable. The level of vocal talent on display is surprising considering this is a production from a small university.

Saoirse Ryhn’s Little Red Riding Hood is full of spunky fire and should give Hawaii audiences confidence in the future of musical theatre here on the islands. Nicole Shepard’s creates a Cinderella that we connect with in ways that are real and tangible. Callie Doan makes us wish everyone was as supportive and could sing us life lessons! Jeff Bracket and Michal Nowicki create two Princes that rival the Spin Doctors 90s tune! But Kate Sarff-- dear God! Amazing. You’ll never love a wicked witch more. These talents are more than enough reason to seek this show out this weekend!
