“(BLANK): THE MUSICAL” TO PREMIERE AT
THE DORIS DUKE THEATRE ON MARCH 23RD!
An Musical Featuring “Hawaii Five-0” Actor, Dennis Chun.

HONOLULU, HI, MARCH 2, 2017 – Improv Hawaii’s “(BLANK): The Musical“ is a fully improvised musical comedy featuring local Hawaii celebrities. “Hawaii Five-0” actor Dennis Chun will star in “Dennis Chun: The Musical” on Thursday, March 23rd at 7:30pm at The Doris Duke Theatre in the Honolulu Museum of Art.

Improv Hawaii’s “Head Sillypino,” Kimee Balmilero, says, “Our show is based on our featured guest’s life stories. Chun has been a professional actor in Hawaii since the 1970s, and is sure to have some very fun stories to share!” The musical comedy is described as a combination of a hit Broadway musical and the popular improv TV show  “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” She continued, “Everything from the music to the dance moves to the song lyrics are completely made up, so this will be audience’s only chance to see this particular show.”

Currently in the role of Dr. Noelani Cunha, the new Medical Examiner on “Hawaii Five-0” Season 7, Balmilero will interview special guests on stage and then announce the opening/closing night of the new musical. The Musical Improv Comedy Show will also feature an opening performance by the Improv Hawaii Players as well as a musical guest. This will be Improv Hawaii’s 2017 premiere and will lead into their on-going classes and monthly improv jams at The Arts at Marks Garage in Chinatown.

A student of beloved Hawaii theatre director, Ronald E. Bright, Kimee’s professional credits include the 3x Emmy Nominated series Hi-5, the Original Broadway Cast of Mamma Mia and, now, Hawaii Five-0. About Dennis Chun

Dennis Chun is in his 7th season of portraying Sgt. Duke Lukela on "Hawaii Five-0". Among his other television credits are appearances on the original "Hawaii Five-0", "The Brady Bunch", "Magnum P.I." "Jake and the Fatman", "Eight is Enough",  and "Island Son". Movie credits include "Inferno in Paradise" and "Goodbye Paradise." He has also appeared in numerous local plays and commercials.  Dennis is the son of Kam Fong who was the original  Chin Ho Kelly on classic "Hawaii Five-0". He will be appearing in a short film entitled "Same T'ing" which is expected to make the round of film festivals this summer.
