Issue #216 — Hundreds of Stories

In this week’s issue of Hitting The Stage…

HTS’ Hester Lewellen reviews the latest from the Kaimuki High School Performing Arts Center (KHSPAC) with Terrific Production of In the Heights. The award-winning show written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, before he reached superstardom with Hamilton: An American Musical, is set over the course of three days in Washington Heights, New York City, and features many characters inspired by Miranda’s own barrio upbringing.

The show marks the 30th Anniversary of the performing arts center, and as a way of saying thanks, the organization is holding a special showing and reception on Sunday, February 26, for any alumni who’ve been a part of their productions, onstage or off. Congrats to everyone involved for helping to create three decades of quality theatre at KHSPAC!
