Every mother of a preschooler has said countless times at playgrounds and playdates alike, “You need to share,” only to be faced with a three-foot-high force-of-nature that is determined to keep every last toy for themselves.  Sharing is hard!  Home, Honolulu Theatre for Youth's current show designed for the littlest keiki in our lives, is the story of Me and Oh: the journey of their friendship, the gift of forgiveness, the joy of togetherness, and, yes, the challenges of sharing.

Alvin Chan and Jocelyn Ishihara are delighting audiences as the animated and colorful characters Me and Oh.  Chan, in the role of Me, captures the selfish and often amusing will of a young child who has not yet learned to see beyond himself.  Both preschoolers and parents will laugh at the lengths, Me, goes to safeguard his stash of “stuffy-stuff” which includes but most definitely is not limited to a rubber ducky and a tiny toilet.  Jocelyn Ishihara, as Oh, will draw you into the story of Home with her wide-eyed warmth and loyal friendship.

This world premiere play by Oahu resident Annie Cusick Wood delivers precious life lessons with humor, joy, and honesty. Much of the story is told with puppets guiding our imaginations into new and exciting places far beyond the theatre’s walls.  The beautifully whimsical musical underscoring, by Matthew Mazzella, immerses audiences even further into this delightful tale.

Share Home with your family, you will be touched and thankful for the kindness ultimately found at “Home."

Home runs Saturdays, February 18 and 25 @ 9:30 and 11:30am.  Honolulu Theatre for Youth, Tenney Theatre on the grounds of St. Andrews Cathedral.  www.htyweb.org  808-839-9885
