November 10 - 19, 2017

Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm, and Sundays 3:30pm

Chosen as a 2008 Outstanding New American Play by the National Endowment for the Arts, and Finalist of Pulitzer Prize 2010, Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo tells the story of two US Marines, an Iraqi translator, and a tiger looking for the meaning of existence, and redemption set in the Iraq War. Rajiv Joseph's groundbreaking new American play explores both the power and the perils of human nature. It tackles important issues such as war and its impact on lives of those involved, and also challenges the mainstream narratives of Middle East, spirituality, and PTSD. The Broadway cast featured Robin Williams in the role of the Tiger, and marked Williams' only and final appearance in a play on Broadway.

For its second show of its inaugural season, EPOCH - Empowering People of Color - Hawaii theatre company, presents the Hawaii premier of this play, directed by two of Hawaii's distinguished directors; Po'okela award winning Iranian-American actor/director Maseeh Ganjali and Edo Natasha - an international award winning filmmaker.

Armed with a seasoned and dedicated troop of local actors and production team, Maseeh and Edo realize their vision of creating a powerful show featuring some of Hawai’i's finest talents. These actors are: Saul Rollason, Reb Allen, Javonta Light, Dezmond Gila, Sienna Aczon, Zina Tarab Zadeh, and Maseeh Ganjali.

DISCLAIMER: Due to the language and content of the play, which depicts experiences during war, this play may bring back memories of PTSD for some veterans.
