Issue #193 — The Devil Made Me Do It

Aloha All,

In this week’s issue of Hitting the Stage…

One of our most favorite reviewers, Scott Robertson, returns to take on the delicious devilry that is the Hawaii Shakespeare Festival’s The Witch of Edmonton in “Some Call Me Witch.” The multifaceted production, recently praised as being one of the finest in the 15 seasons of the festival, plays for five more shows, 7/27-31, at the ARTS at Marks Garage. Read the review, see the show, then tell us what you think!

Laura Clark Greaver submits her experience of Kumu Kahua Theatre’s annual fundraiser in Kumu Kahua’s Kālā-Bash: Good Fun with Great People. The festive event has been an integral part of Kumu’s longevity, allowing them to bring now 45 years of quality theatre to local audiences. Here’s to many more years to come!

I was able to chat with director Kevin Berg about his upcoming production at Mamiya Theatre in Chaminade University Collegiate Theatre Festival’s Next to Normal. The Pulitzer Prize-winning production plays for three shows only this week as part of what is sure to be a very intense, fun, and educational festival, with the next week’s shows being Almost, Maine and Rose and the Rime. Thanks, Kevin, for taking the time to answer our questions!

Enjoy!
